Welcome to International Counselling GmbH

Our practice offers evidence-based talking therapy in Zurich.
English-language psychotherapy and counselling when life gives you lemons.

A mug with coffee or tea with the word "begin" printed on it.

How can we help you?

If things are challenging right now, get in touch sooner rather than later. We can help with:

  • Stress and low mood
  • Trauma or grief
  • Adjustment to expat life
  • Adolescence and emerging adulthood
  • Neuropsychological assessments: ASD and ADHD, in children, adolescents, and adults
  • Online sessions, wherever you are

What we offer

  • Sessions for private or business purposes
  • Held individually or in groups
  • Particular expertise in trauma, stress, and depression
  • Practice based Zurich, Switzerland — we offer online meetings as well if you prefer

Why the practice exists

While working for four years at an outpatient psychotherapy clinic at the University of Zurich, Dr. Clare Killikelly kept meeting the same gap: accessible, high-quality psychological support for English speakers was hard to find.

International Counselling GmbH was founded in Zurich to close it, and has served patients all over Switzerland since 2020.

Two aims

  • Provide high-quality, evidence-based psychotherapy for English-speaking individuals
  • Build a network of trained psychotherapists and counsellors
    for the English-speaking community

How therapy at International Counselling works

A structured, time-limited course of talking therapy (counselling, CBT, other evidence-based methods), tailored to you and delivered online or in person.

A) Life asks a lot of you

Stress, trauma, grief, depression.

Perhaps a new country brings the stress of an unfamiliar environment, a sense of disconnection, low mood, and uncertainty about what comes next.

These are treatable challenges.

B) How a course is structured

  • Contact us, and we'll figure out how to work together on your life challenges in a complimentary 20min intro session
  • The next step is an in-depth initial assessment of approximately 90min, where we discuss your current difficulties and outline an individualised treatment plan
  • We follow up with treatment sessions of 50min thereafter

C) Time-limited by design

  • Usually, around 20 to 25 sessions are sufficient to achieve our goals
  • The aim is to equip you with the skills and confidence to move forward independently
  • Every course is tailored to the individual, with an emphasis on collaboration and compassion

D) Hesitations?

If you are considering therapy but have doubts or questions, we are happy to introduce our services and talk through the possible treatment options first.

A) Neurodevelopmental assessments

With our expanded team, we also offer cognitive, academic, and neurodevelopmental assessments alongside therapy.

Unlike the therapy and counselling services, the assessments require meetings  in person in our Zurich-based practice.

B) How an assessment is structured

  • Contact us, and we'll discuss your situation or that of your child  in a complimentary 20min intro session
  • The next step is an in-depth assessment over several standardised sessions, using internationally recognised methods.
  • If helpful, we follow up the assessment with sessions focused on coping strategies and/or therapy.

"I worked with Dr. Killikelly over two years to cope with my anxiety. She is calm and compassionate and always ready to help. She shares her expertise in a very smooth way without overwhelming her patient. With the tools I learned from her, I am at peace with myself and tuned with my body-mind much more than before!"

Beth

"I struggled to find a right approach to my PTSD, trying out Psychoanalysis, EMDR, and CBT.  Dr Clare Killikelly's CFT (Compassion Focused Therapy) sessions helped me greatly to go through difficult situations at work and regain confidence. She is extraordinarily open, witty, and professional."
